Say No to Piracy

Hi friends, looking around we found that monster of piracy is causing a big trouble to software industries a lot .When we start taking about piracy many question arises in our mind .

What is Piracy and how much loss it is doing to others?

Piracy: It can be simply defined as theft of another person's work or ideas; illegal copying or use of computer software but problem is not so small as its definition is .Piracy shows loss of morality and humanity of human beings how can a person enjoy others work without paying him, whenever we use pirated software please try to give a thought ,“What if your boss or your company declines to pay your wages at the end of month and you have worked at your best?” Large number of my friends will feel annoyed and say few bad words to boss or someone of them can sue them in court of justice for getting his hard earned money .Now if we compare this same situation of frustration of ours with Software developers then we will find that their condition is more pathetic than of ours .We if not getting paid we know who is the culprit and sue him to pay us but do you ever thought of those computer software developers small ones here I am not pointing biggies like Microsoft, Adobe etc. those who worked hard for late nights for numerous days and develop a software and waits it to sell it for his live hood but comes to know that more than half users of his developed software are using it as pirated copy i.e. he is not getting his share of reward fully as large number of computer users are not paying him of the cost of his work. This situation not only frustrates the developer financially but as a whole it causes downfall to the rate of technology development because piracy causes downfall to the level of moral of developers.

Condition of biggies of this software market is not good but I raised the condition of small developers because they are group of less number of people with low financial power whereas the Microsoft or Adobe are big giants with a sound financial power and sometimes they also take some steps to stop piracy but ever they will succeed to eradicate Piracy at whole without support of general computer users? .No they can’t do so, till people make up their mind to do so.

Reasons for piracy

Main reason that most of us point out for using pirated software is that the “ original copy is out of my pocket limit” and it is true also for most of the computer users of developing nations but this doesn’t means if we are not able to afford legal copy of software we will use its cracked version .This is not a fair practice to use pirated software.

In India problem of piracy is also due to some tech-illiterate hardware assemblers who never inform their customers that PC they are assembling for them is loaded with pirated version of expensive software’s and customer unknowingly commits crime of using pirated software’s . Government should check malicious practice as lot of Pirated software’s in Indian homes are replicated copies of pirated copies of hardware vendor and if next time you are going to buy new computer please insist legal copies of software (some brand like Dell IBM come preinstalled legal copies of general software’s ).

Now the question arises what to do if pocket is not allowing us to buy the original software’s? We can’t leave to use computer in absence of legal copy of windows. Can we?

How to say no to piracy?

If a person is not able to buy legal copy of software he should say bye to Windows and say hello! to Linux .Linux is a gift of open source community to all of us. Linux is a freely available platform with having all functionalities of paid windows version .It is available in various flavors like for Desktop, Power P.C or server with having freedom to choose distro of our choice for each flavor. The most popular distros of Linux are Suse, Fedora ,Linspire ,Ubuntu and many more are there in list. Now when I suggested you to switch over to Linux I will also try to make clear that this switch over is not so easy for old windows users as Linux is little bit geeky than windows they might have to face some difficulties in starting but few weeks of practice will turn them into perfect Linux operators . But at starting of their first day of switch over they will definitely come to know some of the silent features of Linux like after installation users will find that Linux is not like other paid OSes it is more than that it comes packed with lot of other software’s for free like some version come with pre installed copy of Word Processor (Open Office), Image Editor (Gimp) etc . “This switch over is a small step to stop piracy but it will definitely result as a great leap to mankind towards humanity ”

PS:---After reading all above some of my friends can mock at me by saying Ugh! useless lecture …………………… blab blab!...but those who can listen the voice of their soul will definitely give it a serious thought and start saying no to Piracy .If your pocket is not allowing to buy legal software’s and you have decided to switch over to Linux then I will recommend you to have multiboot system i.e. Linux +Windows (pirated) on same system till the time you get familiar with Linux after that you can say bye to piracy and windows easily.

Thanks more on next…. post but please post your comments.
